Disney’s Animal Kingdom Backstage Tales Tour
My love for animals is what makes Disney’s An mal Kingdom my absolute favorite park. It feels so comfortable yet extraordinary at the same time. I have been to Animal Kingdom at least 6 times, and there is ALWAYS something new to see and learn. My most recent trip included a walk on the wild side on the Wild Africa Trek, where I got to walk just 10 ft over massive crocodiles! It is an amazing tour for those with LOTS of courage and very little fear. For those with a heart for animals and a love for learning (and maybe not as scary,) Animal Kingdom offers a new Backstage Tales Tour!
If you have ever wondered how everything works behind the scenes or perhaps how Animal Kingdom trainers care for over 1500 animals…..then this tour is for you! On the Backstage Tales Tour who will not only see “tails” but you will also hear “tales” from the trainers themselves! The 3 hours 45-minute tour takes you into the animal housing areas, nutrition center, veterinary clinic, and other animal program buildings. The learning potential is endless, and starts from the very second you walk up to the entrance!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom currently features animals past in their Dinoland, TONS of present, and the other is on the way! I can’t wait to share more information on that! The Backstage Tales Tour guides are not only knowledgeable but very passionate about their job and their animal friends. They left no question unanswered~ which makes this tour perfect for people that are interested in animals! Here you can learn about how they go about feeding the animals with over 4 tons of food per day~ all special diets prepared by animal nutritionists and all meals are made from people quality food! The same food fed to the animals is available throughout Disney. I thought that was quite interesting!
The guides led us through exhibits like the aviary- we were even able to feed the birds!
Because this is a backstage tour and special to those on the tour- there is no photography allowed. I wish I had more pictures to share with you, but you will have to see for yourself! A few things to note before booking the Backstage Tales Tour:
- This is an outdoor event and will require walking rain or shine. Dress accordingly and bring a poncho.
- This tour brings you behind the scenes on tons of exhibits, but animal interaction is guaranteed.
- Bring water
- The Backstage Tales Tour is for guests ages 12+, and require an adult 18+ to accompany.
- No photography or video recording is allowed.
- Tickets are sold separately from park tickets. A portion of proceeds goes towards the Disney Conservation Fund.
