Two of the best-known areas for surfing in the area are Bosa Chica and “Dog Beach.”  One specific type of “surfing” that is gaining a fan base at Huntington Beach is known as kite surfing, which involves the participant being pulled along by a large kite-like construct as he surfs on something resembling a wakeboard.

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, covering much of South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, is one of the most famous beaches in the country.  Activities are various here, including miniature golf, which is a major pastime.  Indeed, Myrtle Beach has often been called Earth’s Putt-Putt Capital, because of the sheer number of courses.

It will also soon be the home of Bama Bayou, a $300 million resort project to be located at Orange Beach’s Intracoastal Waterway.  It appears that Orange Beach’s goal is to appeal to people as Nature’s Paradise for those who like to get away from the grind of daily life.
