Top 5 Popular Beach Destinations

Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach is one of Southern California’s most important beach communities, and an outstanding tourist destination, especially for those who enjoy water activities such as surfing.  It features the renowned Huntington Beach pier, large beaches, magnificent sunsets, and lots of opportunities for jogging, biking, and particularly surfing.  Two of the best-known areas for surfing in the area are Bosa Chica and “Dog Beach.”  One specific type of “surfing” that is gaining a fan base at Huntington Beach is known as kite surfing, which involves the participant being pulled along by a large kite-like construct as he surfs on something resembling a wakeboard.

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, covering much of South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, is one of the most famous beaches in the country.  Activities are various here, including miniature golf, which is a major pastime.  Indeed, Myrtle Beach has often been called Earth’s Putt-Putt Capital, because of the sheer number of courses.  Other things to do include visiting Broadway at the Beach (a great shopping/eating destination), visiting Myrtle Beach Speedway, catching a baseball game at Coastal Federal Field, and more.  Add to this the wide variety of ethnic restaurants for a great selection of dining experiences, and you find Myrtle Beach to be a fun vacation destination.

Orange Beach, Alabama

Orange Beach, Alabama is not one of the best-known vacation spots in the country but is loved by those who know about it–and increasing in popularity.  Some of the features that attract tourists every year include Adventure Island, the Indian and Sea Museum, and various sailing tours such as Gateway Charters, Sailaway Charters, and Reel Surprise Charters.  It will also soon be the home of Bama Bayou, a $300 million resort project to be located at Orange Beach’s Intracoastal Waterway.  It appears that Orange Beach’s goal is to appeal to people as Nature’s Paradise for those who like to get away from the grind of daily life.

South Beach

South Beach covers 23 blocks of the larger Miami Beach area and is the landmark separating the Atlantic Ocean from Biscayne Bay.  It has a dynamic bar and club scene, with more than 150 nightclubs.  Some of the best-known of these include Mac’s Club Deuce, The Clevelander, and B.E.D.  South Beach is also a popular place for those participating in fashion shoots.  In fact, it’s estimated that about 1,500 models live around the South Beach area, with even more between October and March.  Other attractions in the area include the Jewish Holocaust Memorial, the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, and Miami Duck Tours.
