San Francisco CityPASS – A Great Way To See A Lot & Save Money

If you want to save money while seeing the sights of San Francisco, we recommend you get a CityPASS before you leave home. More than 13 million City Passes have been sold — with 99% of users recommending them. That kind of figure gives us confidence.

There are two city passes that give you access to San Francisco attractions. The other one is the GO San Francisco Card – Read Our Review

This most popular of San Francisco city pass is good for nine days from its first use, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the city and its major attractions, like the California Academy of Sciences and the Aquarium of the Bay.

The Top 3 Benefits

Of course we like the convenience of getting into the museums and attractions with the San Francisco CityPass. But, here’s what we really love —

  1. You get to skip the ticket lines. Saving time when on vacation is one of the most valuable things about a pass like this. You don’t want to spend your precious time in San Francisco waiting in line!
  2. You get to ride urban transportation for free. The cable cars and the other types of urban transportation the MUNI runs are all free to you for seven days. You don’t have to mess with tickets, special passes, or having the right change.
  3. You save 44%. Nothing to sneeze at!

What’s Included In The CityPASS

1. Cable Car & MUNI 7-Day Pass

You get unlimited transportation on all Muni trolleys, buses and historic cable cars for seven consecutive days, beginning on your first CityPASS use. The MUNI is San Francisco’s public transportation system, and includes cable cars, the trolleys and the buses. On its own, The MUNI pass costs more than $35.

2. California Academy of Sciences

You get admission to all exhibits in what Condé Nast Traveler magazine calls one of the “New Wonders of the World“. Visit the rainforest the aquarium, the planetarium, the living roof, and the natural history museum…and skip the ticket lines!

3. Blue & Gold Fleet Bay Cruise

Bay Cruise

Your CityPass includes this one-hour cruise that takes you under the fabulous and famous Golden Gate Bridge, all around Alcatraz Island and cruises past Angel Island. See the San Francisco skyline as it looks only from the water. Sensational!

4. Aquarium of the Bay or Monterey Bay Aquarium

Walkthrough the 300 feet of clear glass tunnels cutting right through the center of this 700,000-gallon aquarium. Travel through the ocean as if you were diving in it — without getting wet! A great experience.

Or, if you’re going to be south of the city, down in Monterey (I think Eric Burdon said that) you can choose instead to go to the equally-magnificent Monterey Bay Aquarium.

5. The Exploratorium or the de Young Museum

The Exploratorium describes itself as “a museum of science, art, and human perception”. Admission to this amazing hands-on science museum would cost you $29 at the door, but the CityPASS also gets you in there for free!

Or, you can opt for free admission to the de Young Museum, one of the leading museums in the United States that attracts more than 3 million visitors a year and is the fourth most-visited museum on the continent.

How Does the CityPass Work?

The CityPASS comes to you as a ticket booklet. In it there’s a ticket that gives you unlimited cable card & MUNI rides for seven days.

You also get admission to San Francisco’s 4 must-see attractions at 44% off the combined admission price. That’s a savings of $73.90 per adult and $54.90 per youth.

The option tickets (number 4 and 5 above) get you entry to one of two attractions. You don’t need to to decide when you buy your pass — wait to choose until you’re.

Here’s What Customers Say

Don’t leave your SF hotel without it!! I bought 4 for my family. It’s a GREAT DEAL!! Just in transportation fees alone you get the ticket’s worth on what would be multi-day transportation (MUNI) passes. The Cruise by the Bay is an experience in itself, especially for 1st timers!! I would buy a CityPASS to any other city I go to, and even for SF, when I return. (Hopefully soon!!)”

The CityPASS is amazing… I was so pleased to make a right decision to purchase it for my trip to San Francisco. The CityPASS’s size is portable and you can have a lot of fun in it. I really appreciated the service at the customer counter of California of Sciences… I forgot to bring my print-out (confirmation) during my visit, the staff assisted me to print out the confirmation on site and gave me a CityPASS. Really professional customer service. If you want to save time and money to travel this city, I highly recommend you to have the CityPASS with you… The CityPASS is SUPER…”
