The gardens extend for 380 acres along Lake Wylie and boast nine gardens, each with a different theme. There are predefined paths for hiking through the meadows, or if you prefer you can walk through the Orchid Conservatory. The glasshouse which houses all manner of orchids and other tropical plants is about 8,000 square feet. That’s a lot of flowers to gaze upon. Freedom Park
Freedom Park is similar to New York’s Central Park. Situated on 100 acres of land, you’ll find runners, bikers, walkers, people watchers and other nature enthusiasts in the park. Take your kids to rollerblade or skateboard along the paths. While they do, you can walk the Naturescape Trail and observe the birds and butterflies as you walk along. You’re sure to observe some species that you’ve never seen before. Take some pictures of the waterfowls as they drift along the expansive lake.
Carowinds
If you’re vacationing with kids, you’ll definitely need to stop by Carowinds and experience some of the fifty rides that they have available there. There’ll be rides for them and some surprisingly good ones for you as well. When you’re tired of walking around in the heat, change into your swimwear and get on a few water rides to cool off.
Charlotte Museum of History
The Charlotte Museum of History will be appreciated by a more mature crowd, but the kid-friendly exhibits might also be of interest to a few children.
